Could you be the next All-Ireland Chowder Champion?

All-Ireland Chowder Champion

We’re calling on all chefs and local restaurants to apply for this year’s competition to keep the title of ‘All-Ireland Chowder Champion’ in Donegal for two years in a row. If you’ve got a passion for seafood and think you’ve got the chowder recipe to take the crown, then we’d love to hear from you!

Hosted by ‘The Food Coast – Donegal’s Good Food Initiative’, the regional heat will be held in LYIT, Killybegs at the Hooked! Maritime Festival on Saturday, 24th September 2016. The winning chowder, as voted for by the public, will go on to represent Donegal at the 7th annual All-Ireland Chowder Cook-Off in Kinsale, Co. Cork early next year.

You could represent Donegal, competing with over 30 chefs from all around Ireland, for the title of the 2017 All-Ireland Chowder Champion. The winning Chowder Champion will receive a trophy and travel to Newport, Rhode Island as a guest chef in 2018.

Last year’s Chowder Champion was Donegal chef and restaurateur, Kieran Doherty of Nancy’s Barn. Could your chowder recipe make it two in a row?

All chefs must apply in order to compete in the regional heat. If you’d like to apply, download the ‘All-Ireland Chowder Champion Application Form’. Closing date for applications is Tuesday, 6th September. Finalists competing at the regional heat will be profiled in advance of the competition.
